sound company headquarters

The headquarters of the company dealing with sound production for commercials and films is a particularly noisy place. It is the place where many actors, teachers, clients and a team of employees meet. Sound paths with picture in readers and editing rooms intertwine in the same place. A lot of things is going on. All this hustle and bustle must somehow be organized – divided so that work and breaks between recordings are comfortable. The project proposed a new functional division of space for both work and informal meetings.

The main design task was to create a representative orderly entrance area – a large common space. The company’s headquarters is located in a terraced house from the 80s, with a low light and low interior.

On the ground floor, the entrance space with reception, cloakroom and a meeting place for many people at one table have been redesigned. Additional spaces are: a room for management and accounting, quiet corners for meetings and a toilet.

Design challenges were the low cost of arrangement and short time for renovation. At that time, all floors with newly designed sound studios and a staircase underwent reorganization. However, the largest part of the renovation was the ground floor zone.

In addition to arranging zones and functions on the ground floor, the project also included the creation of special partition walls – referring to the structure of partitions – 2b4 walls. They were deprived of filling in the form of acoustic insulation – absorbing noise. Skeletons of the structure were designed and its aesthetic qualities were emphasized by filling them with semi-transparent polycarbonate panels. The divisions of the wooden structure successfully function as shelves for books and magazines. By doing this, the interior has become more spacious. Activities in individual rooms are slightly visible, the light from the garden penetrates the entire ground floor.

The furniture is made of transparent varnished pine wood, the filling panels are semi-transparent polycarbonate, the ground floor floor is covered with gray rubber lining. The walls were painted white to add cosiness in the waiting room, a mirror was mounted on the wall. To complete the interior, typical lighting fixtures and ordinary furniture were used.
