Serwus
traditional “zapiekanka” bar – Serwus
Spatial concept alludes to traditional bazaar stalls, known as “the Jaws”, from which, in 1990s Warsaw, literally everything was being sold. Small interior has been arranged with 5 such objects, diverse in height and width. Every stall is dedicated to particular function of “zapiekanka” preparing process.
The structure of the stalls are steel profiles powder-coated in the color of ketchup and cheese. Such construction, once colored, is galvanized. Tops as well as oven and fridge housings are made of transparent varnished coniferous plywood. Spherical bulbs hang from horizontal steel connectors. Light intensity in the interior is adjustable. Worktops can be illuminated with fluorescent lamps of warm color.
Each of the stalls is equipped with all necessary elements to support a specific function.
During the renovation, the original pre-war floor was discovered under layers of gumoleum. The wooden display case with fitted glass was refreshed, the defects were filled and painted red from the outside, and from the inside a cream shade of white.
We were able to refresh the preserved brass door handle. For easier location of this place, we designed a neon lamp.
