Thinking of the design of this unique exhibition, we created an installation in which a recipient does not stay passive towards the surrounding space and topic. Our aim was to get the visitors involved, make them exert mutual impact on each other, and get familiar with the presented designs of the TYGRYSY group from different perspectives. When arranging the form of the exhibition, we referred to the symbol of a seat. It is just when people sit that most things are invented and problems solved.

„TYGRYSY - W ZESPOLE SIŁA” [TYGRYSY – UNITED IN STRENGTH] is an exhibition devoted to outstanding Polish architects who were active in the first half of the 20th century. The group comprised 3 artists: Wacław Kłyszewski, Jerzy Mokrzyński and Eugeniusz Wierzbicki. We were awarded with the order to develop the exhibition’s architecture in a competition. When the idea behind the exhibition was forged, we wanted to focus not only on the TYGRYSY group designs, but also on the mechanism of common action and on the advantages which are brought by group creation.Thinking of the design of this unique exhibition, we created an installation in which a recipient does not stay passive towards the surrounding space and topic.

The exhibition was divided into 9 groups, each of which includes 3 seats arranged in various configurations, thus becoming a form of an applied arts installation – a kind of street furniture. As the exhibition’s visitors are placed in various relationships towards each other, a various level of tension is created between them, and an opportunity arises to perceive a given issue (model) from different perspectives. Each of 9 groups corresponds to a different period of TYGRYSY activity and to one major design selected form the given period. The content of the exhibition was printed on special weather-resistant fabric and stretched on the frames by an assembly and disassembly system. The frame-like stands were made of welded steel profiles, powder coated in white. In order to make the exhibition’s tectonics more diversified, the content presented on the planes are complemented with 3D models, i.e. mock-ups of selected designs. They were placed inside frames by means of invisible fixing elements, and covered with PMMA lenses. As the exhibition was designed to be presented outside, it is mobile. The vernissage took place at the courtyard of the seat of the Association of Polish Authors ZAiKS, and it was also presented at the Museum of Warsaw.
